UCup × Huawei × Shenzhen Loop Area Institute | Registration Now Open for the 2026 Universal Cup Summer Online Challenge!¶
Registration is now open for the 2026 Universal Cup Summer Online Challenge. Sponsored by Huawei and co-organized with the Shenzhen Loop Area Institute (SLAI), the challenge welcomes participants worldwide who are interested in algorithms, machine learning, wireless communications, and intelligent network optimization.
Challenge Overview¶
This challenge focuses on the frontier topic of channel modeling for wireless networks. Participants will tackle the task of predicting signal strength for newly deployed base stations in complex urban environments, using the world's first large-scale, city-level dataset of real-world geographic and signal measurements. Based on base-station locations and orientations, surrounding point-cloud data, and measured signal values, participants will build models capable of accurate channel modeling and predict signal strength at unseen locations.
This is more than a competition in predictive modeling. It is an open challenge jointly driven by real industry needs, a frontier academic talent-development platform, and the Universal Cup's global competition community. Huawei brings core problems from real-world wireless network scenarios; the Shenzhen Loop Area Institute offers academic development opportunities for future research talent; and Universal Cup brings together leading algorithm and modeling competitors from around the world, giving participants a platform to demonstrate their abilities and earn recognition through real-world problem-solving. The challenge features substantial cash prizes, while outstanding contestants may also receive opportunities for Ph.D. pre-admission and scholarship support from the Shenzhen Loop Area Institute, as well as fast-track recruitment opportunities at Huawei. We invite everyone passionate about algorithms and artificial intelligence to turn their modeling skills into genuine competitive strengths for the future of industry and research.
Schedule¶
- Registration Opens · June 24
- Competition Period · July 20, 20:00 — August 3, 20:00 (UTC+8)
Competition Rules¶
Participants are required to submit only their models' output results on the test set. A backend judging system will score the submitted results, and final rankings will be determined by those scores.
